The Weldbond® story began in the early 1960’s when our father, Bernard Ross (Senior) attended a paint and coatings convention in Baltimore. (You see, at the time, FT Ross was primarily a paint company.) During the train ride back to Toronto, our Dad struck up a conversation with a stranger who shared a story about a powerful formula that was non-toxic, made with all-natural ingredients, stayed flexible, could be used as a sealant, bonded almost anything and improved the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. (Okay, maybe not that last one.)

It just so happened that, at the time, Dad was close to finalising a natural soap invention of his own which would one day become the foundation for his company, Nature Clean®. This revolutionary glue formula dovetailed perfectly Dad’s ideals and where he wanted to take the company. Before you could say, “Next stop, Toronto”, an agreement was made and Weldbond® was born. (Incidentally, Dad came up with the name because he thought it sounded as strong as metal welding.)

Weldbond® emerged in 1962 as the only consumer adhesive that could glue, seal and perform as a bonding agent.
